The Philosophy minor at Philipps-Universität Marburg gives students a deep insight into the fundamentals of philosophy. After a broad introduction to ethics, theoretical philosophy, history and logic, you can delve deeper into topics of your choice while acquiring knowledge about aesthetics or other disciplines of philosophy. The Enlightenment which is a concept and a goal of philosophy, both historically and in the present day, guides the teaching. You should therefore be able to independently diagnose fundamental problems, both in and outside of the subject, and to show methods of possible solutions to problems using methodological and reasoned support.

An integral part of the combined Bachelor's degree is the MarSkills programme, in which you will acquire valuable, future-oriented skills.

Prospects

This minor contributes towards qualifications for the following fields: Publishing, libraries, project management, non-academic educational institutions, socio-cultural institutions, media and public relations, planning and consulting in the public and private sectors, association work in organisations of political, social and cultural advocacy, support for academic research and teaching.
The minor also provides a basis for pursuing a Master's degree.

A minor subject will help you to extend your professional qualifications profile, which is decisively shaped by the choice of your major subject. In conjunction with your major subject, your relevant work experience (e.g. internships, part-time jobs, voluntary work) and your personal skills, it will enable you to refine your profile and carve out your own individual array of career options.
