The master’s program “Bildende Kunst – Künstlerische Konzeptionen / Concepts of Fine Arts deepens and broadens students' artistic and scientific knowledge and skills. The program serves to manifest a design esthetic and to develop an artistic approach, as well as to advance manual artistic and technical skills.
Major topics
The program combines major topic-minor topic master methods and concepts of the Fine Arts with the study of an elective science. By linking the Fine Arts, in the major topic, with a science, in the minor topic, students are given the opportunity to develop specific perspectives for intermedial and interdisciplinary research projects.
Objectives
Students receive a degree qualifying them for the realization and reflection of artistic concepts and scientific contexts. Furthermore, they are qualified to solve design tasks in connection with communications and publication projects. The master’s program Bildende Kunst – Künstlerische Konzeptionen / Concepts of Fine Arts opens up a variety of professional prospects for artistic, scientific, educational, social and economic responsibilities in museums, galleries, archives, auction houses, agencies, extracurricular educational institutions, publishing houses and broadcasting companies. The program qualifies for professional independence and for management roles. The Master of Arts degree enables access to higher civil service and to a doctorate in the scientific minor topic.
Admission requirements
Required university degree Certification of completion of a subject-relevant Bachelor program with an artistic study focus or a study focus in the secondary subject to be chosen for the present Master program, or certification of a comparable domestic or foreign qualifying university entrance degree is a general prerequisite for the Master program.

The secondary subject must be provided for in the Master program Fine Art – Artistic Conception according to Appendix 3 of the examination regulations.
The selection committee appointed by the department can make admission contingent on additional academic performances and/or examination performances of 30 CP at maximum being produced. In this case, the program can be extended accordingly.
