In the minor subject “Latin Language and Culture”, you will be taught basic language skills, which you can apply to translate original Latin texts. The language skills correspond to the level of the state Latinum and will enable you to interpret texts independently (for example in your major subjects). You will also learn to survey authors and works of key genres and epochs of Latin literature and will be able to identify reception references to ancient texts and concepts.
Prospects
In the minor subject “Latin Language and Culture”, you will acquire important key skills. For example, your communication, transcription and social interaction skills, as well as your independence, will be developed.
In addition all the fields that studying the respective major subject enables you to enter, this course will particularly qualify you for work in publishing, the media, journalism, politics and similar civic fields due to the training that it provides in a precise use of language and the insights that it offers into the cultural-historical development of ideational concepts and forms of literature.
A minor subject will help you to extend your professional qualifications profile, which is decisively shaped by the choice of your major subject. In conjunction with your major subject, your relevant work experience (e.g. internships, part-time jobs, voluntary work) and your personal skills, it will enable you to refine your profile and carve out your own individual array of career options.
