Studying the minor subject “Mathematics” will enable you to work analytically and logically and to apply quantitative methods. You will be able to use mathematical methods to develop models and procedures for solving practical problems and to put these into practice. Mathematics is a universal language that will enable you to work in interdisciplinary teams. You will be able to investigate complex problems from science or business, model them mathematically and find appropriate ways of solving them.
Prospects
The course will prepare you for a job in business and industry or in the public sector in which quantitative methods are used or analytical and logical work is important.
As mathematical methods are used in a large number of fields and additional sectors that are entirely or partially mathematised are constantly being added to these, the maximum possible breadth and depth of mathematical knowledge and ability is required.
A minor subject will help you to extend your professional qualifications profile, which is decisively shaped by the choice of your major subject. In conjunction with your major subject, your relevant work experience (e.g. internships, part-time jobs, voluntary work) and your personal skills, it will enable you to refine your profile and carve out your own individual array of career options.
