Molekularbiologie zellulärer Systeme / Molecular Biology of Cellular Systems (Master of Science)
Program: Molekularbiologie zellulärer Systeme / Molecular Biology of Cellular Systems
Degree: Master of Science (M.Sc.)
Program length: 2 years / 4 semesters (120 ECTS points)
Start: winter and summer semester
The Molecular and Cellular Biology master's program educates you in the molecular and cellular sub-fields of biology, both technically and methodologically. In the first year, you are taught fundamental knowledge with a discipline-specific and professionally qualifying character. The second year serves to deepen the specialized knowledge that has been acquired, and to incorporate it into the subject matter of the six-month master's thesis.
The program is research-oriented. Training is accordingly provided in an active research environment in Marburg, which is characterized by international collaborations, special research areas and research associations, graduate colleges, and a close cooperation with the Max Planck Institute for terrestrial microbiology.
Major topics
Molecular issues from: Developmental Biology, Genetics, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Infection Biology, Mycology, Plant Physiology, Animal Physiology, Synthetic Biology, Animal Physiology, Cellular Biology
Objectives
With successful completion of the "Molekularbiologie zellulärer Systeme / Molecular Biology of Cellular Systems" master's program, you can demonstrate that you are able to process challenging and extensive issues in current research contexts from molecular and cellular biology. Successful graduates are thereby qualified for professional fields related to biology in biological and medical research (hospitals, industry, university) and for work in administrative offices or other public institutions. With corresponding alignment, moving toward independent work is also possible. Successful completion of the master's program qualifies students for a doctorate.
Admission requirements
Required university degree We require proof of completion of a relevant Bachelor's degree in the natural sciences or proof of a comparable domestic or foreign university degree.
The Bachelor's degree that qualifies for a profession or comparable domestic or foreign higher education degree must have provided qualifications in biological disciplines. It must provide evidence of at least 60 credit points (CP) in subjects that can be found in the basic, advanced and specialisation biological modules of the Bachelor's degree programme in Biology at the Philipps-Universität Marburg. Of these, 30 LP must be clearly attributable to modules with a focus on genetics, microbiology or cell biology.Certifications of program-specific knowledge and skills to be submitted prior to admission German skills:
DSH 2Other language skills:
We require proof of proficiency in English according to level B2 of the "Common European Framework of Reference for Languages of the Council of Europe".Admission Mode Direct admission is granted with complete fulfillment of the admission requirements. Who can answer questions?
