Program: Erziehungs– und Bildungswissenschaft / Educational Science
Degree: Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)
Program length: 6 semesters / 3 years (180 ECTS points)
Start: Winter semester
The Erziehungs- und Bildungswissenschaft / Educational Science bachelor's program connects a broad basic qualification in educational theory and practice to introductions to the two professional focal points of Social and Rehabilitative Education, on the one hand, and Extracurricular Adult and Adolescent Education on the other. The program is divided into modules initially focusing on the content-based and methodological fundamentals of the discipline. At the same time, practice-oriented competencies are acquired, particularly as part of a systematic preparatory and follow-up internship. Introductory modules in the indicated major study topics follow. The individual profile creation is supplemented by a selection of profile modules, such as on the topic areas of advisement, media, interculturalism, environment or gender. Modules from other subjects and exchange programs with foreign universities ensure the interdisciplinary and international alignment of the program.
Major topics
First of all, in the second study section, an in-depth module is chosen in one of the two major study topics of Social and Rehabilitative Education or Adult Education and Extracurricular Adolescent Education.
Secondly, you have further options for your individual major study topic in the program by choosing an internship position, a minor topic program or the individual selection of study and examination achievements within the broad range of topics within the course offerings (e.g. in the profile modules).
Objectives
The Educational Science bachelor's program qualifies successful graduates to perform professional work with scientific qualification in the general field of education and social services, e.g. in adolescent support services, adolescent and child psychiatry, home schooling, social work, adult education centers, work with the elderly, advisement, continuing vocational training, education planning and educational policy. There is not currently a clearly defined professional profile for graduates with a bachelor's degree.
