In the major subject "Ancient Middle Eastern Studies”, you will receive a wide-ranging education in the source languages Akkadian and Sumerian and will engage in deciphering and interpreting the cuneiform texts that originate from the various ancient Middle Eastern cultures. You will also explore the ancient cultures of the Middle East, especially in the area of the modern-day states of Iraq, Iran, Syria and Turkey, from the fourth to the first millennium BC. This will give you an in-depth expertise in the study of antiquity.
An integral part of the degree course is the MarSkills programme, in which you will acquire attractive and future-oriented key skills.

This major subject will qualify you to work at institutions that deal with the ancient world and its reception, such as academic institutions and museums, as well as in the library and publishing sector.

General higher education entrance qualification, subject-related higher education entrance qualification, technical college entrance qualification or master’s certificate and comparable certificates from advanced professional training or professional qualifications
