Re-registration for Winter Semester 2026/27
In order to continue your studies, you must re-register for the following semester toward the end of the current semester. To do so, transfer the semester fee to the University of Marburg’s account within the re-registration deadline.
Deadline for the 2026/27 winter semester
Regular deadline: July 1, 2026, through August 26, 2026
Extended deadline (final deadline): August 27, 2026, through September 18, 2026 (Note: Late fee applies!)
Tip: “On Time”
Your registration will be processed if you transfer the fee on time. Your payment is considered on time if the value date falls within the registration period. Since it can take two to three business days for the payment to be transferred from the University of Marburg’s account to our campus management system (Marvin), your registration will not be processed until a few days after payment is received. A real-time transfer therefore does not result in same-day re-registration! So don’t wait until the last minute to make the transfer. If you’re late, your re-registration will not be processed, and a late fee of €30 (see also Semester Fee) will be charged.
FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions About Re-registration
Inhalt ausklappen Inhalt einklappen How can I tell if my re-registration was successful?
You can confirm that you have been through the process of re-registration for the upcoming semester in Marvin under the “Student Services” portlet. Once re-registration is complete, a blue bar will appear at the top with the message “Re-registered for ...”. Please note that the receipt of your payment via bank transfer to the university account will not be immediately visible in your Marvin account, as processing the re-registration and transferring the data can take a few days. Therefore, if you make a real-time bank transfer on the last day of the deadline, you will not be able to see the payment in Marvin on the same day. Re-registration is usually completed two to three business days after the payment is received.
Inhalt ausklappen Inhalt einklappen What happens if I don't re-register?
Anyone who fails to complete the process of re-registration by the deadline loses the right to re-register and will be de-registered “ex officio” in accordance with §68 HessHG. You will not receive a certificate of de-registration stating the duration of your studies and your degree. The lack of a certificate of withdrawal may lead to problems when fulfilling your obligation to provide proof to the pension insurance agency. If you do not intend to continue your studies, we therefore strongly recommend that you formally withdraw via Marvin. You can find more information on our “de-registration” page.
Inhalt ausklappen Inhalt einklappen Even though I paid the semester fee on time, I haven't been re-registered. What could be the reason for this?
Incomplete/Missing Payment of the Semester Fee
The most common reason that prevents automatic re-registration is paying the semester fee shortly before the re-registration deadline. The duration of the transfer of the payment from the University of Marburg’s account to the campus management system (Marvin) can be several days. Even if you make your payment “in real time,” the duration of the transfer to Marvin is usually two to three business days. A payment made shortly before the deadline therefore often results in the payment not being received until after the deadline, resulting in a €30 late fee. This fee cannot be waived in such cases, as we repeatedly remind you of the re-registration deadline and you receive numerous reminders.
Expiring Examination Regulations
If the examination regulations for your degree program have expired, you cannot be re-registered under them. You were informed of this in advance by your examination office via email. Please contact the examination office of your department to clarify, if applicable, the possibility of transferring to a new set of examination regulations. You can find the contact information for the examination offices in the departments on the “Examination Offices” page.
Condition: DSH Certificate
If you have already been enrolled in the DSH preparation program for 2 or 3 semesters and need an additional semester for a language course, you can apply for an extension as follows:
1. Re-enroll by transferring the semester fee within the re-enrollment deadlines.
2. Log in to Marvin and go to “My Studies,” “Student Services.” You can submit the application until the last day of the semester (in the summer semester, until March 31; in the winter semester, until September 30).
You must upload the following documents to your application via “Submit Documents”:
• Certificate of enrollment/exam registration for your language course for the upcoming semester
