Networking will be a top priority for your degree program from day one. You will have access to the relevant services only with your student account.

Student account

You can access your student e-mail, MARVIN and ILIAS, create your timetable and register for courses only with your university account. After you are enrolled, you will be notified by the University Computer Center about the activation, and then you can activate it directly online.
Student e-mail address

Every university account has an e-mail address. It provides you with important information about your degree program and allows you to communicate with your professors, lecturers and other members of Philipps-Universität Marburg. You can find out how to access your e-mail in your browser here.
Marvin

Who is this MARVIN guy anyway? In our online portal, you can register for your courses, create your course schedule, change your personal details and view important documents. You can find an overview of functions and tips here.
ILIAS

Professors and lecturers offer teaching material for their courses via this digital learning platform – scripts, texts, slides, images. You can find detailed instructions on how best to use ILIAS on the platform itself.
Wi-Fi access

You can connect to Wi-Fi in most university buildings. Our University Computer Center will explain exactly how this works with your device.
VPN access

The virtual private network (VPN) enables you to access resources and data of the university and some external providers securely from an external device via the internet.
Two-factor authentication

For some online services at Philipps-Universität Marburg, you will be granted access only via twofactor authentication (2FA). The 2FA portal explains exactly how and why.
Online meetings and seminars

The university provides a video conferencing platform for lecturers and students: Big Blue Button. You can also set up your own rooms here and use them for learning groups.
Team chat (Matrix) (GER)

Real-time communication is possible via the Computer Center’s own messaging service. Similar to Discord or WhatsApp, you can chat with one person or with a group. You can use the team chat as a web application, desktop app or mobile app.
Hessenbox

With the “Hessenbox” cloud service, we offer you a sync-’n’-share solution that allows you to save, synchronize and share files on different devices. You have 30 gigabytes of storage space at your disposal.
