How to use Marvin as a Student

Video: YouTube Video "This is Marvin"

You already know the Marburg administration and information system MARVIN from your application. When you enrol, your role changes to student. As soon as you have activated your university account, you can log in using the "Login with university account" button.

What functions does Marvin offer?

  • Menu Item: My Studies - Student Services

The menu item My Studies - Student Services offers you access to many essential self-administration functions that will make your everyday life as a student easiert. Here you will find information such as:

    • your name
    • your matriculation number
    • your student status
    • status of your re-registration
  • Menu Item: My Status

In the My Status section, you will find information about your enrolment in your current degree programmes. If, for example, there are problems with re-registration, a block will be displayed here. If everything is in order and there is no block, no note will appear.

  • Menu Item: Contact Details

You can change your adress, telephone number and e-mail address in the My Contact Details section.

This is particularly important if your address changes: Your semester documents will always be sent to the address you have entered under Studies - Correspondence.

  • Menu Item: Payments

You should check the data in the Payments section carefully, especially during the re-registration period, as you may be de-registered if you fail to pay. Here you can see,

    • how much the current semester fee is (debit),
    • when the re-registration period ends (due date),
    • wether your semester fee has been received on time (actual) and
    • wether a late payment fee may be due.
  • Menu Item: Certificates

In the Certificates section, you can download important documents yourself as a PDF and print them out if you need to submit them to other authorities in paper form. The certificates are verified and therefore valid without a stamp or signature. Here you will find, among other things:

    • your certificate of enrolment (also called certificate of study),
    • your certificate for the BAföG office,
    • your transcript of records
    • and certificates of performance.

Registering for Courses

At the beginning of each semester, you will mainly use Marvin to register for courses (seminars, lectures, tutorials, etc.). How exactly this works is explained in the Marvin FAQs.
