Data that are processed
We process personal data that we receive from you as part of our advisory services. Essentially, this includes contact data, such as name, address, telephone or e-mail address, information on the course of study, disability ID, medical certificates, accommodations for disabilities, and the like.
Purposes and legal basis of data processing
We process the personal data referenced above in accordance with the provisions of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Hesse Data Protection and Freedom of Information Act (HDSIG). The legal basis for the processing of your personal data is your consent in accordance with Article 6(1a) GDPR and, if applicable, Article 9(2a) GDPR. You can revoke your consent at any time informally to SBS, but please note that the revocation is effective only for the future. Your data will be processed by SBS only in the context of consulting.
Recipients of the data and storage period
Your personal data will not be transferred outside Philipps-Universität Marburg and authorized service providers. Our service providers are obligated to comply with data protection in addition to written instructions. We process and store your personal data as long as it is necessary for the fulfillment of our contractual and legal obligations, until you revoke your consent or the consultation/course of study is completed.
Data protection rights of the data subject
In accordance with the regulations on data protection, data subjects have rights based on the data processing of personal data by the controller for the purposes mentioned above.
- You have the right to information under Article 15 GDPR, the right to rectification under Article 16 GDPR, the right to erasure under Article 17 GDPR, the right to restriction of processing under Article 18 GDPR, the right to notification under Article 19 GDPR, and the right to data portability under Article 20 GDPR.
- You have the right to revoke your consent to data processing in whole or in part at any time without giving reasons. You can declare this revocation informally to the Service Center for Students with Disabilities (SBS) at Philipps-Universität Marburg. Revocation will result in the prohibition of any further use of your data for the future. The lawfulness of the previous processing of your personal data remains unaffected by your revocation.
- In addition, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority if you are of the opinion that the processing of your personal data is not lawful. The competent supervisory authority is the Hesse Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information, P.O. Box 3163, 65021 Wiesbaden, poststelle@datenschutz.hessen.de.
