Computer office hours for students who are blind or low-vision

To support students with disabilities, especially students who are blind or low-vision, Philipps-Universität Marburg maintains several adapted computer workstations at various locations with assistive technologies.
Among other things, for introductions and questions about the use of the computer workstations, the Service Center for Students with Disabilities offers computer office hours once a week. These are hosted by a team of one student who is blind or low-vision and one sighted student assistant to be able to address diverse issues as equitably as possible.

Services during computer office hours

Computer office hours include the following services:

  • Resolving questions about how to use adapted computer workstations
  • Setting up individual appointments for an orientation to using adapted computer workstations
  • Receiving and forwarding error messages while using adapted computer workstations
  • Tips on using digital services at Philipps-Universität Marburg
  • Receiving problems during accessible use of university digital services
  • Serving as the first point of contact for using screen readers during your course of study and making referrals to outside support services
