17.04.2025 The silence of the genes
The lecture of Prof. Tung Le from the Centre for Microbial Interactions, Norwich attracted widespread attention.

On 15 April, we welcomed Tung Le to RTG 2937, who is Professor and Group leader at the John Innes Centre. With his team, he studies how the chromosome is organised spatially and segregated faithfully, using a simplified bacterial system. In the SYNMIKRO lecture hall, Tung talked about how a molecular clamp shuts down long-range gene expression in multi-drug resistance plasmids.
Click here to learn more about Tung Le's group and how it aims to apply similar approaches to investigate other classes of chromosome-structuring proteins. The ultimate aim of the lab is to understand the integration of actions of different classes of architecture proteins in organising the chromosome.
Thank you for the impulses you gave us, Tung! We hope you enjoyed your stay as much as we did.
