On 5 November, we welcomed Michal Hocek to RTG 2937. The group leader at Charles University in Prague engaged in meetings with Marburg researchers and broadened the chemistry horizon of the MiNu PhDs and postdocs with his talk on "Base-modified nucleotides and nucleic acids for chemical biology, medicinal chemistry and diagnostics".

The Hocek group is interested in the synthetic, bioorganic and medicinal chemistry of nucleic acids and their components, engaging in: the design and preparation of novel types of modified derivatives and analogues of nucleobases, nucleosides, nucleotides and nucleic acids for applications in all areas of biomedicinal sciences; the biological activity of novel nucleobases, nucleosides and nucleotides, and the enzymatic synthesis of functionalized nucleic acids bearing diverse interesting and useful substituents. Thank you for your visit and the impulses you gave us, Michal! We hope you enjoyed your stay as much as we did.
