21.04.2025 DISCOURSE awards to Frederike Stein and Rieke Mülfarth
Early career and open science awards acknowledge SFB/TRR 393 members' scientific contributions.

At the recent Satellite Meeting of the DISCOURSE in Psychosis Consortium on April 3, 2025, in Chicago, two researchers from the SFB/TRR 393 were recognized with awards for their outstanding contributions to the field of speech and psychosis research.
Dr. Stein (PI in the INF project, Marburg site) was honored with one of seven Early Career Researcher (ECR) Awards, supported by the Monique H. Bourgeois Chair and the François Bourgeois Foundation, Montreal. This award, which includes C$500 to support conference attendance, recognizes her promising work at the intersection of language and mental health.
Ms. Mülfarth (PhD student in the SFB/TRR 393, Marburg site) received the DISCOURSE Open Science Award as the sole recipient. Her contribution was recognized for its high potential to enhance the consortium’s open-source datasets. The award includes C$500 and highlights her commitment to open and collaborative research practices.
These awards are part of the broader efforts of the DISCOURSE in Psychosis consortium. It is dedicated to understanding thought, language, and communication disturbances in psychotic and affective disorders. With a particular focus on the multimodal nature of speech elicitation, DISCOURSE investigates the mechanisms behind these disturbances and their impact on day-to-day functioning.
We warmly congratulate Dr. Stein and Ms. Mülfarth on their achievements and are proud to see their work contributing to this important global initiative.
