Authority Files
Marburg University Library supports research and science in the application and use of authority files.
What are Authority Files?
'Authority Files' are identification systems and data sets which definitively describe persons, organisations, music and literary works, films and artefacts, buildings, places, terms and concepts.
Authority Files
- represent the actual semantic context
- contain both standardized and alternative spellings
- are linked to persistent identifiers
Authority Files constitute the “controlled vocabulary” and support the automatic processing of search queries in digital data and databases.
