Protecting your personal data is very important to us. This is why we comply with all data protection regulations and will tell you below how Philipps-Universität Marburg processes your personal data when you apply for positions with us.

3. Purpose and legal basis

Collecting and processing your personal data is necessary during the application and recruitment process and when signing employment contracts. Although you are neither legally nor contractually obliged to provide us with your data, we do need some information about you during the application process. Not providing any data may mean that we will not be able to consider you as an applicant.

The legal basis for this data processing lies in article 88 of the EU General Data Processing Regulation (GDPR) and in § 23 (1) of the Hessian Data Protection and Freedom of Information Act (HDSIG).

4. Recipient or recipient category, third parties

While processing your personal data, it will not be transferred to recipients outside of Philipps-Universität. Within the university, only those involved in the application and recruitment process will be given access to your data. No data about you will be collected from third parties.

5. Duration of retention

We save your personal data when you submit your application. As a rule, if you are not hired, we will retain your data for another six (6) months after we send out our rejection letter. After expiration of this period and legally valid completion of the process, your application documents and any data we have saved about you, will be destroyed if you do not wish for them to be returned to you.

6. Your rights as data subject

In principle, you are entitled to obtain a copy of, rectify or erase the personal data you provided to us for the application process. If any collection or processing of your personal data is based on your consent, you can revoke this consent at any time with future effect. The lawfulness of any data processing which took place between consent and revocation of such consent will remain unaffected in the event of revocation.
