Equal Opportunities and Diversity
In Marburg, the diversity of research subjects and people combines with a great degree of openness for transdisciplinary collaboration and an enthusiasm for discourse and respectful encounters at eye level. The realization of equality and the dismantling of discrimination are therefore tasks that are self-evident and which are prerequisites for diversity-sensitive and appreciative interactions between all university members.
The University of Marburg understands diversity first and foremost as anti-discrimination work with the goal of raising awareness of different life realities as well as discriminatory behaviors and structures, and the dismantling of discrimination in order to create a welcoming learning and working environment for all members of the university.
Matters of gender equality, equal opportunities, diversity work, and anti-discrimination are closely linked to one another. They find expression in permanent structures, strategies and practical actions and policies. These are all continuously evaluated and developed further, for example, in the course of the Diversity Audit – Shaping Diversity, participation in the federal and state program for female professors, or the upholding of the Seal of Approval for Family-Friendly Universities in the State of Hesse (Gütesiegel Familienfreundliche Hochschule Land Hessen).
