Guiding principles of the Marburg professorship appointment culture
With its professorship appointments, the University of Marburg pursues strategic goals which have been agreed upon university-wide. Specifically, the four guiding principles are:
Significant excellence in research and teaching. Self-confident presentation, and, in addition to depth, the breadth of the subject-related knowledge are of equal importance at the University of Marburg.
The University of Marburg considers the quality of research achievements first and foremost; quantity alone cannot impress.
Enthusiasm for one’s own subject, willingness to collaborate, and open communication – whether with students and professional colleagues, as well as with neighboring disciplines and the public – are valued.
In the case of first-time appointments, the scientific and innovative potential receives particular consideration.
